Membership
Why become a member?
As the second biggest student society on campus, we have over 900 members; led by a committee of thirteen, with ties to the biggest law firms in the world. Over the last few years, we have been awarded the three most prestigious accolades by the Students’ Union: “Best Society,” “Best Departmental Society” and for two years in a row “Activities Officer’s Award”.
To our new and returning members, as we emerge stronger from these unprecedented times, my aim is clear: to enhance your University experience with a plethora of in-person social and career events that will be bigger and better than ever before. Our unparalleled careers service of workshops and networking events, available to both Law and Non-Law students, offers exclusive opportunities with, and guidance from, the most reputable employers in both the legal field and banking. In 2017, LawSoc held the largest networking event within the Law School, being recognised nationally as the “Best Careers Event 2017” at the LawCareers.Net Law Society Awards for our renowned “Dinner with the City”. To whet your appetite, for this year we have booked the largest venue to date.
The society also has numerous sports teams that are some of the best and most competitive on campus, including rugby, hockey, netball, basketball and football teams.
Becoming a member of LawSoc is one of the most rewarding things you can do as a student at the University of Nottingham, and I look forward to seeing you at our events over the coming year!
